| Your
physician has chosen Grant Memorial Hospital because of the
services we can provide for your needs.
Medical Records
A confidential medical record is established for you when
you enter the hospital. This information may not be seen by
anyone except your physician and authorized personnel.
Rooms
Although we have made every effort to provide the type of
room accomodation requested, because of emergencies and high
demand, we may not have been able to meet your request. If
not, we will try to transfer you to the type of room you requested
as soon as possible.
Smoking
Effective March 1, 1991, Grant Memorial Hospital became a
SMOKE FREE facility. Smoking will be allowed on the grounds
in designated areas.
Identification
You will be issued an identification bracelet which must not
be removed during your stay. This provides positive identification
at all times.
Valuables
Personal valuables should not be kept in your room as the
staff cannot be responsible for their safekeeping. Send valuables
home, if possible. If not, the hospital has a safe in which
your valuables should be immediately stored. No money or jewelry
should be kept at your bedside. If you feel you may need to
buy newpapers, etc., it is recommended that you keep no more
than $5 at your bedside.
Visiting
Visiting hours are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
for general patients.
Coronary care and intensive care patients may be visited
5 to 10 minutes per hour per person. This is flexible and
at the discretion of the attending physician and the unit
charge nurse. O.B. visiting hours are posted in that department
How Your Length of Stay is Determined
Insurance companies, Medicare and medical assistance dictate
that the hospital does not keep you longer than they judge
is necessary through a utilization review procedure. The physician
will send patients home, to an extended care facility or to
a nursing home when a lower level of care is required.
Volunteers
One of the most valuable members of the hospital team is the
volunteer. We see the volunteer as key assistants to hospital
personnel and in helping us to control costs.
If you or someone you know wishes to become a volunteer in
the hospital, contact nursing services.
The volunteer team also assists the hospital in annual fund-drives
and in the purchase of equipment.
Television
For your enjoyment, television sets are provided at a daily
rate to be paid at the front office each day or upon discharge.
A remote control speaker permits you to listen in private
without disturbing others.
Diets and Meals
You will be served the diet your doctor orders for you. Special
diets require the precision of filling a medical prescription.
We follow your doctors orders so that you will recover faster.
These orders may not permit you to always have the foods
you like best or the seasonings you prefer. If you have any
questions about your diet, please feel free to ask your nurse
to have the dietitian's assistant visit you.
