COVID-19 Testing Facts

GMH continues to test for COVID-19, with no positive results reported as of today.  We are following revised criteria from the CDC and State of WV to prioritize for testing.  The criteria to be tested is as follows:

  1. Patients who have been involved in an illness cluster or congregate setting with symptoms of shortness of breath, fever and cough.
  2. Healthcare workers who have the symptoms of shortness of breath, fever and cough.
  3. Workers in public safety occupations (e.g., EMS, law enforcement, firefighters, etc.) who have symptoms of shortness of breath, fever and cough.
  4. Hospitalized patients who have symptoms of shortness of breath, fever and cough.
  5. People who have other known high-risk heath concerns, have symptoms of shortness of breath, fever and cough, AND who are:
    • Over age 60
    • Immunocompromised
    • Pregnant woman

If you do not meet this criteria, you may not be eligible for testing. Before going to your doctor’s office, urgent care, health department or emergency department, please call (304) 257 1026 and Press 5 to speak to an ER Nurse to determine if you need tested.  If you have a serious medical issue, please call 911.

Please also understand the entire world has called upon the same supplies and tests needed for screening. GMH is working very hard to help keep each and every one of you safe, and we will test if appropriate. Please stay at home if you can, wash your hands frequently, and if you must go out, please stay at least 6 to 8 feet away from others.
