Bensenhaver Clinic now part of Grant Memorial
A long-serving medical practice has found a new home, albeit at the same location, after being acquired by Grant Memorial Hospital.
The GMH board of trustees approved the acquisition of Dr. Dewey Bensenhaver’s clinic, whose office was previous under the Valley Health System.
“The proposal is to acquire the assets from Valley Health System, employ Dr. Bensenhaver and his staff and lease the first floor of his building and the lower parking lot,” explained GMH chief executive officer (CEO) John Sylvia.
Sylvia explained that with this acquisition, the practice would become essentially a department of the hospital.
“Dr. Bensenhaver has a large patient base here in the area and if we were not to employ him there is a good chance his practice would close, which would impact patient care in the area,” said Sylvia. “We want to make sure we are doing our part to allow for a critically needed provider to remain in practice for our region.”
In a media announcement following the approval, GMH said they were excited to welcome Dr. Bensenhaver, Becky Harman, FNP and the Bensenhaver clinic staff to the hospital family.
The proposal was approved unanimously.
Following the approval, the clinic announced new hours, being Monday (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), Tuesday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Wednesday through Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
