Gift of Life

Grant Memorial Hospital encourages you to share the Gift of Life.

Each day, 20 Americans die for the lack of an available organ. GMH has partnered with Donate Life West Virginia to help save lives by educating our community about the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation and increasing the number of registered donors. Bob Milvet, CEO of GMH, encourages you to join him in support of this cause by registering today.

You can help with three easy steps. First, visit www.donatelifewv.org to learn more about donation and how to register. Do not be discouraged by your age or past medical history – anyone can be a potential donor. Organs are matched through the United Network for Organ Sharing based on body size, blood type, medical urgency and geographic location as it relates to travel time.

Second, talk about your decision with family members. Joining the West Virginia Dona Registry is considered an advance directive for individuals over the age of 18, but sharing your donation wishes with your family and educating them about donation can help them feel comfortable with your decision and may encourage them to register as well.

Finally, tell others about the need in our community, and how every person can make a difference. One person has the potential to save eight lives through organ donation, and enhance 75 more through cornea and tissue donation.

GMH will be holding a flag-raising ceremony on Friday, April 26th as well as observing National Blue & Green Day on April 12th to promote organ donation
