Better Breathing Begins With Us
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a program designed to help pulmonary patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. Our Pulmonary Rehab services are intended to help patients gain a better understanding of their pulmonary diagnosis and the benefits of exercise. Grant Memorial Hospital Pulmonary Rehab program is a complete plan to provide structured, professionally monitored exercise, education and support.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Phase II
Pulmonary rehabilitation is designed to help patients with chronic lung disease gain control over their symptoms and to help gain independence in the activities of everyday life. This is accomplished by helping you:
- Increase strength and endurance
- Decrease symptoms
- Increase knowledge about condition
- Decrease depression and anxiety
- Increase quality of life
The program consists of 36 sessions of monitored exercise which are held on Tuesday and Thursday with education about your condition. In Phase II, your monitored exercise routine in the cardiopulmonary rehab unit will be under the supervision of a registered nurse, exercise physiologist and a respiratory therapist. Our facility offers treadmills, arm ergometers and NuSteps. Your family may attend all sessions with you.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Wellness Phase
Our wellness phase allows you to continue your exercise and wellness program after you have completed Phase II. This program is also offered to those who have not been diagnosed with a chronic lung disease but have symptoms or risk factors that may lead to the development of lung disease. The
wellness phase offers exercise and education supervised by a registered nurse, exercise physiologist and a respiratory therapist.
Who is Eligible?
Pulmonary Rehab Phase II is for patients with the following diagnosis:
- Chronic Bronchitis
- Lung Transplant
- Other Chronic Lung Disease
You must have a referral from your doctor for both Phase II and our Wellness Phase.
Almost all medical insurance companies and Medicare cover the cost of those eligible for phase II pulmonary rehab. Our Wellness Phase, however, is
not covered by medical insurance, but is offered at a minimal fee. Please remember you will not be denied based on your ability to pay.
