In a joint statement issued February 4th, 2019, Melissa Walls, CEO, E. A. Hawse Health Center, Baker, and Robert Milvet, CEO, Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, announced a collaborative care arrangement effective March 4th, 2019.
This arrangement establishes E.A. Hawse Health Center as a primary care network for Grant Memorial Hospital. As part of the arrangement, Drs. Solomon Mutetwa and Nishat Ally, in addition to family nurse practitioner Eleanor Berg will become employed by E.A. Hawse Health Center and will provide services at the 111 South Grove Street clinic in Petersburg. All three providers currently practice at the Grant Memorial Hospital outpatient clinics located at 65 Hospital Drive, and they will continue seeing patients at this location through March 1st, 2019.
The collaboration will enhance the medical practices and ensure the continuation of quality medical services in the area. E. A. Hawse Health Center will bring to the practice as part of their federal mandate a sliding fee schedule to meet the financial needs of those patients with limited incomes. In addition, they will expand the current provider coverage at this location. Both organizations will work together to help recruit other providers to the clinics at E.A. Hawse Health Centers, and Grant Memorial Hospital will offer x-ray services at the Grove Street location.
Milvet said, “E.A. Hawse Health Center has a solid reputation state-wide and nationally for delivering high quality health care. They have received accolades year after year for the care they provide, and have been recognized as the top-performing health center in the State for years. I am very excited about this collaboration for our patients and the whole community.”
Walls added, “E.A. Hawse looks forward to collaborating with Grant Memorial Hospital in providing services and meeting our mission of access to quality care by expanding services in the Grove street office. The future of Collaborating with GMH will help us in obtaining our goal of delivering health care which has a positive impact on the health status of our community members and our most vulnerable populations.”
